Madelinetosh was born from an artist's dream: to create the perfect color palette for knitting yarns. In 2006, Amy started in Fort Worth, Texas, with a small Etsy store and a vision - to dye yarns like paintings, inspired by the rich history of art in textiles. What started as a search for the perfect shade of color became a revolution in hand dyeing. With over 1,700 colors in their legendary “Madalogue” library, they created the largest hand-dyeing operation in the United States.
Their secret lies in the overdyeing glazing process: Multiple colors are applied by hand in thin layers, like glazes in painting, to create true depth and dimension. Each strand is guided by the subtle nuances and layered depth of nature - from explosive brights to soft tonals and playful speckles. In 2019, Madelinetosh found a new home at Jimmy Beans Wool, where longtime superfans Laura and Doug Zander continue the legacy. Here, wool becomes canvas, and each skein carries the DNA of a brand that elevated dyeing to an art form.
