John Arbon Textiles embodies what we mean when we talk about yarn with soul. In their small mill in North Devon, vintage machines come to life every day – each with its own name, each a family member. Cuthbert, Ralph, Kevin, and the elegant Gillian from the early 1900s: they all tell stories of a time when quality was more important than speed.

Here, wool is not produced, but born: from Exmoor sheep right outside the door, whose fleece carries the rugged beauty of the dramatic coastal landscape. The team follows a simple belief – that true beauty arises when you give the fiber the time it needs. The spun yarn rests for a week before it finds its final form. Not faster. More beautiful.
